Berlin is a unique city that has a rich history and, therefore, combines different architecture styles. Even in the last 100 years the heart of Germany was repeatedly damaged and reconstructed. Despite this fact, Berlin has not lost its charm. On the contrary, it has become more attractive for all types of tourists.

That is why Alexanderplatz will be an excellent place to start your tour. Located in the center of the city, it enables each visitor to enjoy such sightseeing as Fernsehturm (TV tower), go shopping or visit numerous restaurants.

The Berlin Cathedral should definitely be included in your travel list as the second destination. Being built in the early twentieth century and reconstructed after the Second World War, it will impress every visitor with the interior decoration containing fascinating mosaics and religious images. Moreover, the observation point on the roof let you enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

Additionally, we also recommend to visit sightseeings built earlier than Berlin Cathedral such as the French Church of Friedrichstadt and the New Church, which are located on the Gendarmenmarkt.

Next stop on the route should be done a few blocks from this square with the statue of poet Friedrich Schiller. That implies the memorial of particular importance, namely, Checkpoint Charlie. It was the crossing point between East and West parts of Berlin during the Cold War. Even nowadays tourists can see the original entrance/exit signs of that time, fragments of the Berlin Wall and some historical photos.

After visiting the monument devoted to the separation not only of the city, but of the county as a whole, you should not forget to include in the itinerary the symbol of unification. Namely, the Brandenburg Gate has become a sign of freedom after the decades of the Cold War, when in 1989 the border crossing was reopened and the West German chancellor walked through to be greeted by the East German prime minister.
Here it is important to remember that this monument was also significant as a symbol of the city long before these events. Being constructed in the eighteenth century, it has played a role of Prussian triumphal arch in the past. That is why, it is logical that everything around the Brandenburg Gate is full of meaning. In this connection do not forget to attend the Reichstag.

Even there are many others sightseeings such as the Zoological Garden and Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin is also a city of fashion, shopping, restaurants and night clubs. Take a leisurely walk to get acquainted with the city, or dance till dawn. In any case, even Berlin is so different, it is definitely a place to be visited.
